Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I like Cafe Rio (tried it in Midvale and American Fork). There food has an interesting taste. It is a little overpriced (especially for extra steak). This particular Cafe Rio is sloppy and slow. The kids serving there are unfocused and slow. I will try it again in a few months to see if things change - if not I will have to get my pick up orders from American Fork.

I was so excited to finally have a Cafe Rio in Saratoga, but every time I have gone here it has just been a disappointment. I have a wheat allergy so I cannot have the tostada that comes with the salad. I asked if I could have more rice to substitute for my tostada. The kid told me that he was not supposed to do that. I told him I would pay extra and he still wouldn't give it to me. On top of all of that they were out of chopped lettuce. I stood there and waited for about 15 min. watching the two girls in the back messing around when they were asked to chop lettuce. Finally after waiting the girls in the back said that I would have to have shredded lettuce in my salad because the chopped lettuce was not going to be ready for another 30 min. Shredded lettuce in a salad, come on guys. I will never be going back after this experience. Service sucks and is very very slow.

I really enjoy Cafe Rio but this locations is horrible. Service is slow, they struggle to get your order correct and have poor management for planning. Went in there around 6 for dinner and not only were they out of the grilled chicken breast it would be 30-45 minutes before they had more ready to go. Seriously, how much forethought and planning does it take to make sure and have enough of a popular food item during dinner time. This is the second time I have had an issue with this location and will continue to visit Cafe Rio, but will be going back to the American Fork location. Corporate needs to step in here and make sure the managers are understanding what it takes to successfully run a restaurant.

This is just for this location! One star but I love other cafe rios! Skip this one and go to Lehi where the ingredients are fresh, portions are right, the staff is friendly and the service is quick.

Cafe Rio is always really tasty, but at this location they got so much wrong with our order. It was even a Sunday and not busy at all. I'm not sure if they just didn't read the order we placed online or what but I will never go back to this location

This Cafe Rio seems to struggle. They have screwed up our online orders twice now! There is a list on the bag, how hard is it to match the list to the content actually inside? We will be going back to the American Fork location even though it is farther away.

I have been to this location a couple times, Its been good for the most part. They have gotten my online orders correct which is super important and a problem I have often had with other Cafe Rio's. The food tastes like it does with every other cafe rio, my biggest complaint and it seems like it follows suit with other peoples, is the staff not paying attention or being helpful, I had stood in line for a little bit while workers stood around and laughed, made eye contact and keep not helping, THEN finally putting on some gloves and helping. I find it rude and frustrating, last time I went too I specifically told the guy not to put cheese on the two salads and he did anyways, the place was WAY to packed and busy and hectic to mention it and have him start over, needless to say it was hell picking all of it out. Note to the owner/manager: Practice some customer services skills with your staff.

This place epitomizes mediocrity and should be closed down. I ate here and not only was the service horrible, but the worst cross contamination of food I've seen in years. I ordered a grilled steak taco salad, and mixed in with it was the pulled pork something . The sour cream had guacamole in it, and the lettuce tasted like it had some other salsa I didn't order. The tortilla wasn't fully cooked for either my coworker or I. If they had new management, or someone that cares, this place could be better. The staff acted as if it was an inconvenience to serve me and my coworker.

I am hooked on the Carne asada salads at Cafe Rio. The lettuce is fresh, crispy, and ice cold. The steak slices are tender, juicy, full of flavor, and hot off the grill. Nothing beats the flavor of the house dressing: creamy lime and cilantro with a zing. The portion size is very large. The salad fills me up, and I even ask them to leave off the huge warm tortilla. The food never disappoints, but... The service. Ugh. I know this is Utah so it's unlikely the teens that work at the Saratoga Springs location are ACTUALLY stoned out of their minds, but they are consistently the slowest (meant in multiple ways) bunch of young people working behind the counter no matter the day or shift. I've never been to a Cafe Rio that wasn't incredibly noisy. I wonder if the employees would seem more competent if they could actually hear the customers' orders. Lots of shouting & confusion when ordering. Every time. The lines seem to slowly drag on forever, but there's always a panicked rush behind the counter. I'll take the high prices and questionable service, though, if it means I get to have another Cafe Rio salad. You win some, you lose some.

This is my favorite place for delicious, fresh Mexican. Love the salads and tostadas there! Food is fresh and yummy. Service is good.

This location is getting better... slowly. Service and consistency are building up. We go every few weeks and admit things were pretty bad at opening. Small portions, slow service, mixed up takeout orders, you name it. But as of June 27 things are noticeably better. Cafe Rio is always a safe bet and crowd pleaser for pseudo Mexican food. This location just started slow.

Got to love some Cafe Rio. I always go for either the pork burrito or the pork salad. This place is always good and doesn't dissapoint.

I love Cafe Rio. My wife loves Cafe Rio. The beauty of it as a quick serve restaurant is their fresh ingredients and simple, speedy service. It really is a hard thing to mess up. Somehow this Cafe Rio has managed to do just that. I have thought for a time that we just had a few bad experiences, but I'm putting my foot down after this latest episode. I was going in for a quick order and headed home. Even though there were just two people in line, it took a few minutes for me to get acknowledged. I ordered my usual pork salad, which typically comes in a toasted tortilla with cheese. I didn't get that this time, just a straight tortilla...which you don't miss much until you don't have it and get stuck with a soggy tortilla at the end of your meal. Strike one, but I ignored it and moved on. When I was asked what I wanted on my salad, I made my simple request. Everything but cilantro. The worker threw everything in and plopped some cilantro on top of my salad. He noticed it after a second and picked it off and put it back in the bin...strike two. Finally, I got to the counter. The cashier took my money, bagged my salad...and asked if I wanted a dressing, which of course I did. I didn't get one because the other staff member obviously had a hard enough time not putting cilantro on my salad. The cashier asked the staffer four (4!) times to get her a dressing. Instead of doing it, he was chatting with other staff members. She had to put on gloves and serve it up herself. Strike three....and good night. I desperately hope the managing owner sees these complaints and does something about the awful staff. Either clean house or do a better job training and have a competent manager on site at all times. My wife and I were so excited to have this location open and now will never go back because we keep getting more of the same. It's a shame. This is the one place where I am actually happy to pay 9 bucks for a salad. Bummer. :(

This Cafe Rio has the same good food as any other but it is suuuuper slooooooow. This staff is very new. A couple kids meandering around checking bathrooms looking somewhat clueless and disinterested. One of them plowed by me, with no acknowledgement that i had been pushed. Another staff hurries past me to fill her water glass and then after the fact realizes she has jumped in front of me Fire grilled burrito, was char grilled :-(

I've called in to-go orders twice here and both times they have been wrong. The first time they gave me a completely different order, the second time they gave me the wrong sides. I was so excited to have this one open because the AF Cafe Rio is horrible as far as service and accuracy go. Make sure you double check your order every time!

We have loved other locations but this one is a problem. Hubby and I both got food poisoning there on Saturday night. The only other time we visited, our orders were wrong and awful. The staff is new and slow and I have yet to see a manager on site. Nobody seems to know what his/her role is. When my husband went to talk with the manager about our food poisoning, she was completely apathetic. Also, the piles of pork on the back table being sorted by an employee had us very concerned. There was no way that could be worked through in two hours, which is sketchy. Cafe Rio was designed around a brilliant, organized system and this location hasn't got a clue what that looks like. Hope they figure it out soon - Saturday night parking was very light. I guess others have heard.

Same Cafe Rio you'll get at any if their locations, good food, fresh ingredients. We love Cafe Rio generally as a family, it's always a favorite. This location is fairly new and is still working out a few bumps. The parking lot is terrible! I'm not sure who designed it, but there is never any open spots. Also the call in service is not even worth it. I called ahead so I could just run in and grab the food, and they informed me on the phone it would be over an hour until my food would be ready, and then I couldn't find anywhere to park, and my food was cold. Hopefully in the next few months they can work out the troubles with slow service and figure out a better parking situation.

Love cafe rio but the food at this one isn't quite the same. Maybe they are still learning?
(3)Tony W.
I've always been a huge fan of Cafe Rio. However, this location has messed up my pickup orders each time. I will go to the AF location a little longer and check back in a month or two.
